Aurelia Adams picked up the third best performance of the day award, and the £40 prize that comes with it, at the Bob Lewis Memorial Meeting on 31st August. The award is based on World Athletics points rather than raw time, and it was her 200m that did the damage after she also raced the 100m on the day.
Adams, who competes for Momentum Track Club in the U16 age group, ran 13.04 (-0.7) for fourth in the 100m and 26.83 (-1.7) for fourth in the 200m at Kingston. Neither was a personal best, but converted to World Athletics points the 200m was enough to rank as the third best performance across the whole meeting, a reflection of just how competitive her season has been rather than a one-off.
Adams has been in strong form throughout 2026, with a 100m best of 12.09 (1.8) set at the Stratford Speed GP Series in May, where she also ran her 200m best of 25.22 (1.0) for second place. She backed those up with wins at Surrey County Championships, taking the 100m in 12.20 and finishing on the podium across sprints and hurdles at county level through the spring and summer.
Hurdling has been just as central to her year. Adams' most recent result before Kingston was a wind-assisted 11.55 in the 80m hurdles at the England Athletics U16 Championships in Bedford at the end of July, placing seventh. Those times cap a progression that started well below 12 seconds early in the season and improved steadily through SEAA, ESAA Schools and UK Youth Development League fixtures at Kingston, Chelmsford and Birmingham. She also represented her school at the English Schools Championships, running 11.76 and 11.67 across the two rounds in Birmingham in July.
The step up from U15 to U16 this year has come with a broader event range too. In 2025 Adams combined sprinting and hurdles with high jump, long jump and shot in pentathlon competition, scoring a season's best of 2578 points at the ESAA Regional Schools' Combined Events in June, and her Bob Lewis Memorial 100m and 200m times sit comfortably ahead of where she was over the same distances a year ago.
The Bob Lewis Memorial Meeting's World Athletics points award exists to recognise exactly this kind of performance, one that might not produce a winning time on the day but stands up strongly once age and event are accounted for. For a U16 athlete still building her range across sprints, hurdles and combined events, a top-three finish on points against the whole entry list, juniors and seniors included, is a good marker of where her season sits.
Adams' next targets will likely come back around the hurdles and sprints she has focused on through the summer, with a full year of Surrey, SEAA and England Athletics competition behind her already setting a high bar for 2027. She has also raced regularly for Momentum Track Club at UK Youth Development League level through the year, adding league points alongside her championship results, and her progression through 2025 and 2026 across 60m, 100m, 200m and 80m hurdles shows an athlete developing across the board rather than relying on a single strong event.
The Bob Lewis Memorial Meeting is run by Momentum Sports and sponsored by TF1 Athletic and Weir Archer Fitness. Full results and more photos from the day will follow.
