The main body of the Surrey County AA Track and Field Championships took place at the Weir Archer Athletics and Fitness Centre in Kingston on 9th and 10th May, and it was a big weekend for Momentum Sports athletes across the board.

The Surrey County Championships are split across multiple fixtures through the spring and early summer. The meeting at Kingston was one of the larger fixtures on the county calendar, throughout the weekend there were 415 personal bests and 563 season bests recorded across the full meeting, giving some sense of the scale of the competition and the quality of the conditions on the day.

Momentum Track Club came away with 17 medals — 9 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze. Across all Momentum Sports athletes combined, the total reached 24 medals: 12 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze. That is a serious collective haul across two days of competition!

The highlights were spread across a wide range of events and age groups. Giles Hoogewerf had a day to remember in the field, setting a personal best of 55.70m in the U16 Javelin, a throw that puts him among the better junior javelin throwers in the country at that age, while also winning the U16 Shot Put with a PB of 14.72m and taking gold in the Discus. Three golds in the throws in one day!

Rebecca Keddie won the Senior Women's 800m in 2:07.73, a seasons best, with Christina Kirkby taking silver in 2:17.65, a personal best. Two Momentum athletes on the same podium in the same 800m. Ella won the U20 Women's 800m gold (which was ran in the same race as the seniors) in 2:13.99, also a seasons best.

Sophie Osborn, competing for Blackheath and Bromley Harriers, won the Senior Women's 400m in a personal best of 54.90s and Isabella Shepherd-Evans took bronze in the same race in 58.10s, also a PB.

Lily Cowen won the U20 Women's 100m in a seasons best of 12.40s and took gold in the 200m in a personal best of 24.41s. Grindan won the U16 Men's 200m in a seasons best of 22.47s and took silver in the 100m in 10.60w. Sam Ige took silver in the Senior Men's 200m in 21.42w and bronze in the 100m in a seasons best of 10.79s. Shakur Roberts ran a U20 Men's 400m personal best of 48.66s for silver.

In the field, Pippa Hoogewerf took gold in the U14 Shot Put with a personal best of 10.40m and silver in the Discus. Darcey took U14 Javelin silver. Alicia took U16 High Jump bronze with 1.45m. Mark, competing in the Senior Pole Vault, won gold with 3.00m — equalling his personal best.

Also competing further afield, Izzy won both the U18 100m and 100m Hurdles at the Berkshire County Championships, Emma won the U16 80m Hurdles at the Middlesex County Championships, and Oscar ran 50.75s in the Senior Men's 400m at the Middlesex Championships — his second fastest time ever.
