A busy weekend of athletics across four separate competitions, with Momentum Sports athletes representing both Momentum Track Club and other clubs throughout.

YDL Lower Age Group — Kingston

The Youth Development League Lower Age Group match took place at Kingston, and there was plenty to shout about across the day. The YDL is one of the most important team competitions for young athletes in the country — a league format that runs over four weekends through the summer, with clubs competing across U14 and U16 age groups. Every point matters. The standout moment was the women's 800m, where two Momentum athletes — Ruby and Maya — ended up racing each other. Ruby won it in 2:17.43, with Maya just tenths of a second behind in 2:17.58. Elsewhere in the match, Grindan did the sprint double in the 100m (11.23) and 200m (22.44), both into headwinds, and Pippa's 11.24m shot put was the winning distance on the day. Emma and Chloe took the A and B strings of the 300m in 41.27 and 41.32 respectively. Alex ran 2:07.90 for second in the 800m in his debut run for the club. Joseph won three throws — shot (12.46m), discus (27.09m) and javelin (37.95m) — and Giles took double B string wins in the shot (16m) and javelin (49.44m). Sam recorded a 5.87m long jump, and Euan and Andrew swept the 1500m strings in 4:20.14 and 4:20.55.

The Surrey Champs gave several athletes the chance to compete for county titles, and it was a good day. Seven medals in total — 4 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze — with a number of personal bests alongside them. The results graphic confirms gold for Sophie in the U20 400m hurdles (66.48, PB), gold for Alex in the M40 1500m (4:47.24, PB), gold for Oscar in the M35 Discus (28.77m, PB) and Javelin (44.51m, SB), bronze for Oscar in the M35 100m (12.99s, PB) and silver in the M35 Long Jump (4.24m). Ethan ran 9:14.79 for a U18M 3000m PB, Reuben ran 4:24.42 for a U20M 1500m PB. Oscar in particular had a multi-event day to remember — four events, three medals and three PBs or SBs.

The London Universities and Colleges Athletics (LUCA) Outdoor Championships is a one-day competition for university and college clubs across London and the South East, running parallel championship competitions for LUCA clubs, University of London clubs and the medical schools. Tayla and Christina both took on the 400m — Christina in 59.79s and Tayla in 61.11. Christina also doubled up in the 800m (2:22.19) and ran for her university's relay teams. A full day of competition across multiple events.
EMA London Masters International & Woking AC Open — Woking SportsBox
The EMA London Masters International is part of the European Masters Athletics League — a circuit of events that draws masters athletes from across the UK and beyond. The 2026 Woking edition was held at Woking SportsBox and combined the Masters International with the Woking AC Championships and an open meeting for guest athletes. Seven Momentum Track Club athletes attended. In the Masters age group standings, Ann Davies placed second in the W40 3000m with 11:58.71. James Lumsden stormed to second in the M55 100m with a personal best of 12.87s. Pat Logan took first in the M65 100m in 13.14s — Pat is a three-times World Masters Sprint Champion and a former World M50 100m champion, so he knows his way to a finish line. Sally Parry won the W50 800m outright in 2:57.02. In the open competition, Arun raced the 100m in 12.04s and ran a 200m PB of 24.41s. Ryan raced the 100m in 11.57s and the 200m in 22.98s. Matthew rounded things off with a 48.90s in the 400m.
A full weekend across four competitions and a good set of results to take into the rest of the summer.
